What makes WRFR different from other radio stations?

WRFR is a locally owned, volunteer driven, non-commercial radio station. Our low-power signal, broadcast from our studios in Rockland, reaches 20,00 listeners from Lincolnville to Port Clyde, and Warren to Vinalhaven. Our aim is to deliver an enriching experience for the local and online communities we serve. We hope to achieve this by providing access to the airwaves, thoughtful programming and forums for expression and connection.

WRFR Today

We're a hive of activity! Stop in and find out why!

Jam Session

Our program schedule currently includes over 50 live shows and round the clock automated programming. We offer talk, news, and diverse music shows and our automated “World In Song” is thoughtfully designed by members of our all volunteer staff.

And when they aren't programming, you can sometimes find our volunteer staff swapping songs!

Some of our programmers have other talents, too- such as website design!

Special thanks goes to Paul Cole, and all who contributed to our earlier websites, for providing a cyber framework and foundation for our web presence.

And, thank you Purple Planet Web Design for working with us to build and maintain our new site.

WRFR Tomorrow!

We are looking for a new space

Jam Session

We have grown out of our current space and are looking for a new home. We will remain in Rockland and plan to upgrade and raise our antenna for a better signal. Our new space will be more visible and accessible, and with more amenities and opportunities for community interaction.
